The term Short Block refers to the cylinder block itself, without cylinder heads, water or oil pumps, or any accessories located outside of the cylinder block.
COBB Tuning Tuner Series Short Blocks are SOLD FULLY ASSEMBLED. NO CORE CHARGE REQUIRED!
TUNER SERIES STAGE 1
Recommended up to 400-450HP.
If you’re looking to replace your STI engine but want something better than stock, this may be the shortblock for you. Our new Tuner Series shortblocks are built using our extensive knowledge of Subaru engines through our motorsports heritage at an affordable price.
Please note when ordering we need to know specifically which cylinder head you will be using.
Our Stage 1 Tuner Series shortblock consists of a carefully chosen set of components engineered to be used together.

TUNER SERIES STAGE 2
Recommended up to 450-500HP.
For those that need a little more than our Stage 1, we are proud to offer the Stage 2 Tuner series short block. In addition to our Stage 1 Tuner series engine, the Stage 2 features higher strength billet steel connecting rods instead of STI units. The longer rod design helps improve torque, while being significantly stronger than the STI units they replace. Additional, more precise engine balancing is also performed resulting in a smoother running engine, particularly at high RPMs. You may also upgrade to the professional series bearing packages, which is not an option with the Stage 1.

Looking for the strongest short block possible without going to an expensive racing / professional series engine? Our Stage 3 Tuner Series block is the ultimate “street” block featuring high strength billet internals. Improving on the already formidable Stage 2 Tuner series engine, we replace the factory crankshaft with a higher strength billet steel unit. Our billet steel crankshaft retains the factory stroke, while significantly improving the oiling design necessary for high RPM use.
